The world of half-light and shadows is our world. Lurking there, hiding, watching. When you can’t quite make out those figures in the darkness; when something moves quickly out of the corner of your eye; when your hairs stand up on the back of your neck – that’s us. Waiting, patiently. As you lie in your bed, quilt pulled up over your head, hoping sleep might come, we’re in the corner, watching. Your mum told you it’s just your imagination, there’s nothing there – she’s wrong. The shadows in your room are real and alive and tonight we’re coming for you.

This is day 8 of my Drabble Project (100 x 100 word stories in the month of October).
