Leave Nothing Behind

Writing Challenge

This is Day 2 of my 30 Day Challenge. Today’s piece of writing will be a ‘haibun’.

A haibun is a terse, relatively short piece of prose which is finished off with a haiku.  Most haibun range from well under 100 words to 200 or 300 words.

If you would like to know more about different forms of haibun then check out Contemporary Haibun Online.

Day 2 – A Haibun

The order from on high was crystal clear, ‘Leave nothing behind. Absolutely nothing’!

Our job was simple and my team were mean and methodical. We had to clean up planet Earth and make it ready for its new inhabitants.

It appears they plan to move in a week on Tuesday.

the ferocious fire
swept away all in its path –
ready for new life
