Friday’s 100-Word Story Challenge #3

Every Friday I plan to post a prompt that will encourage you to write a 100-word story.

The inspiration for your story each week will be a black and white photo (taken from Pixabay). Your challenge is to write a story of exactly 100-words inspired by that picture.

If you would like to share your story then simply add it into the comments section below

Have fun and I look forward to reading your stories.

  1. A little overkill, wouldn’t you say?
What, you mean the fence, or the barbed wire?
Both actually.  I just think it’s a little much. Kind of scary actually.
Maybe, but it is a pretty rough neighborhood.  Look around you.  Most of the storefronts have bars on their windows and there are surveillance cameras everywhere.  None of the stores are open at night because no one walks down here after dark, unless they are up to no good.
I get that, but look at this place.  It is like an armed camp. Would you bring your kid here for day care?

  2. “Your new here, ‘aint you?”
“That’s right. I arrived this morning. Couldn’t believe the level of security as I came through the main gates. These guys mean business.”
“You’re right there mate. No escape from his place. What you in for?”
“I failed the Year 6 maths test. Second year running. I’ve got six months extra tuition. What about you?”
“I failed the spelling test, the punctuation and the times table tests for a third year. This is my second stretch. Got 12 months this time. Now, let me give you some advice about surviving in this hell hole, first…”

I look forward to reading your comments
