Friday’s 100-Word Story Challenge #6

Every Friday I plan to post a prompt that will encourage you to write a 100-word story.

The inspiration for your story each week will be a black and white photo (taken from Pixabay). Your challenge is to write a story of exactly 100-words inspired by that picture.

If you would like to share your story then simply add it into the comments section below

Have fun and I look forward to reading your stories.

  1. The little girl sat on a rock on the edge of the old gravel road, traces of tears etched on her face. The young girl approached and asked “why are you crying.”  “Because the big girls pick on me and call me names and won’t let me play with them”.   The older girl said “well, I’m a big girl, but have no one to play with either.  But I do have a swing set. Want to play with me? The little girl smiled and nodded and, placing her arm around her, they trudged off down the road, two new friends.

  2. Despite the lockdown, mum became infected. I noticed it first. Drops of green spittle dribbling down her chin and slight frothing at the corners of her mouth. Worst of all though was her eyes wouldn’t leave our Billy.

She tried to snatch him shortly after breakfast but dad got in the way. It must have been during the bloody fight that he got infected. He knows it won’t be long before the urge to eat us overcomes him.

So he’s brought us here and told us to leave.

“Remember,” he whispered, “Whatever happens, don’t turn round and never come back.”
